Group Therapy & DBT Skills Training in Newton, Kansas

DBT Skills Training helps you build practical skills to manage intense emotions, respond instead of react, and create healthier relationships. Learn alongside other adults who are working toward the same thing.

What is DBT or Dialectical Behavior Therapy?

DBT stands for Dialectical Behavior Therapy and was developed to help people to respond with integrity as they experience intense emotions.

DBT gives you concrete ways to notice what you're feeling, sit with hard emotions without falling apart, and show up differently in your relationships. These aren't abstract ideas. They're tools you practice and use.

DBT combines cognitive behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices to build four core skills: emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.

At Greenhouse Therapy Center in Newton, Kansas, DBT skills groups are open to adults across the Wichita area, including Hutchinson, McPherson, Hillsboro, Valley Center, Maize, Park City, and surrounding communities.

DBT teaches skills you can put to work.

You won’t spend each session sitting in a circle sharing your story.

Think of the group more like a workshop.

You’ll write things down. Practice skills in real time. Ask questions. Then you’ll take what you learned into your life and practice it during the week.

You’ll also learn alongside other adults who are doing the same work.

Sometimes you understand your own patterns more clearly when you hear someone else put a similar struggle into words.

DBT Skills Training helps close the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it.

This group focuses on four areas:

Mindfulness

Learn to notice what’s happening inside you without immediately reacting.

Distress Tolerance

Learn how to get through difficult moments without making the situation worse.

Emotional Regulation

Learn the language of your emotions and learn skills to manage them more effectively.

Interpersonal Effectiveness

Learn to communicate more clearly, set healthier boundaries, and handle relationships with greater intention.

I’ll provide the structure & accountability.

I’m Marilyn Rosa, a licensed therapist who believes understanding yourself matters, but knowing what to do with that understanding matters too.

I create a structured space where you can learn without feeling like you have to perform or have everything figured out.

I’ll teach the skills and help you practice them.

And I’ll create space for honest conversation about what happens when you try to use them in real life.
